Yes, puppies do seem to know what to do with an iPad. This is Kipper playing with an iPad. Kipper is from our September litter of puppies.

12 pups to Dominion Animal Hospital for 7 week wellness checks today. All passed, and charmed all of the staff. Thanks to Gail Pfeiffer for going with me. Proud owner of the sire, Silver, Gail loves the litter too. Pups very thirsty when they got home!

Cagney (6 months old) and his Swedish friend Erika went to a Barn Hunt practice at Rose Miller’s home. Cagney found the rat in one of three tubes buried in hay bales in 4 different exercises! He is a natural!

Halcyon’s Bullet with Butterfly Wings, “Bullet” won a five point major at the Warrenton Kennel Club show in late September. Bullet is co-owned by Pat White and Michelle Bell.

Warrenton Lifestyles Magazine  focused its September issue on dogs in the Warrenton/Fauquier community. Both Pat White, Halcyon Standard Schnauzers, and Leslie Shriner, owner of CH Halcyon’s All You Need is Love, “Frodo” were interviewed about excellent breeding, conformation showing and dreams for the future.

Halcyon’s All You Need is Love is now an American Kennel Club Champion! “Frodo” won his championship in limited showing, winning two specialties and an Award of Merit at the Westminster Kennel Club in his quest for his CH.

Barn Hunting is a new, fast growing sport. Dogs hunt for (tame) rats in tubes concealed within hay bales. Recently I took CH Halcyon’s Utopia (Pia) and Halcyon’s Dancing in the Moonlight (Milly) to a fun barn hunt exercise. This was a new experience for both dogs, and both proved committed, focused ratters. Next step will be competition!

Halcyon’s Be the Change You Wish to See, “EZRA”, quickly won his Championship in limited showing by one year of age, followed quickly with multiple Best of Breed wins and a Group Placement. Ezra became a Grand Champion as a result of these wonderful wins. In September, Ezra competed at the Knickerbocker Standard Schnauzer Club Specialty show and was awarded Best of Breed! Special thanks to the Strong handling team, and to owners Sarah and Rose Miller.

A HALCYON RECORD!

Halcyon’s Born to Run (“Gabby”) entered three dog shows in Atlanta in early August. Gabby was Best of Winners on Friday for a five point major; Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday for another 5 points; and finished her AKC Championship on Sunday winning Best of Breed! Gabby lives with Stephanie & Ben Blanks. Following her record-setting championship, Gabby relaxed in the pool.
